In the case of the Apalachee High School shooting in Winder, Georgia, the 14-year-old suspect, Colt Gray, has already been charged with four counts of felony murder after allegedly killing two teachers and two students during the attack. Nine others were injured, though all are expected to recover. The suspect, who is being tried as an adult, used an AR-style weapon during the incident. Authorities are still investigating how he obtained the firearm and brought it into the school.

Additional charges are expected to be filed, as investigations into the shooter's motives and his online activity continue. The suspect had been flagged in 2023 for allegedly making threats on social media but was not arrested due to insufficient evidence at the time. Gray's father has also been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and other related charges for allegedly allowing his son access to firearms.
